Head of the Museum of Friendship of Peoples

The museum was opened in 2016.

The total area of the museum premises is 32.2 sq. M.

The profile of the museum is history and local lore.

The Peoples' Friendship Museum is a synthesis of the culture and life of the national diasporas living in Belarus.

Target:

organization of research and educational  students' activities to enrich knowledge about the culture of interethnic relations.

Tasks:

  • education of an emotional-value attitude towards people of a different nationality;

  • the ability to present yourself and your country;

  • students' accumulation of practical experience in communicating with representatives of foreign language cultures;

  • interaction of students, teachers and parents with representatives of different cultures.

Structure

The museum has 9 expositions dedicated to the nationalities living in Belarus:

  • Belarusians;

  • Russians;

  • Ukrainians;

  • Lithuanians;

  • French people;

  • Germans;

  • Jews;

  • a friendly family (Kazakhs, Greeks, Jews, Poles, etc.).

The central exposition - "We are united by Grodno" - is dedicated to the history of the Republican Festival of National Cultures in Grodno.

Museum expositions

The expositions dedicated to nationalities provide information:

  • national costume (features of male and female costume, shoes, hats);

  • national cuisine (features of national dishes and drinks, dishes);

  • national dance (features of national dances, musical instruments);

  • national traditions and customs (features of national holidays, their varieties);

  • national traits;

  • number of people living in Belarus (%).

Exhibits

The Peoples' Friendship Museum has 474 exhibits (197 - of the main fund, 277 - of the auxiliary fund). This is:

  • products with national symbols;

  • dolls in national costumes;

  • tableware (products: clay, wood, straw, glass ...);

  • elements of national dress and everyday life (napkins, tablecloths, towels ...);

  • literature (books), etc.

State Educational Institution "Secondary school № 8 of Grodno"

The Peoples' Friendship museum is a cozy and hospitable home which gives the idea of the culture and the way of life of the nationalities residing in Belarus. The exposition of a particular interest “Grodno unites us” is devoted to the history of the Republican festival of national cultures in Grodno. The attendants of a fancy-dress guided tour “Belarus - peoples' united family” will acquaint the visitors with a large number of displays: souvenirs, gifts, items which reflects the national color. The museum's content confirms that Belarus is a country which is able to create a friendly atmosphere and become home for anyone regardless of nationality, religion and color.
