MUSEUM EVENTS 2020/2021
SCHOOL YEAR

DAY OF FRIENDSHIP AND UNITY OF THE SLAVS

On June 25, the Slavs of the whole world, and this is more than 300 million people, celebrate the Day of Friendship and Unity of the Slavs. This holiday was established in the 90s of the XX century so that different branches of the Slavic peoples remember their historical roots, strive to preserve their culture and centuries-old ties with each other.

An interactive program "Slavic Unity" was held at the Peoples' Friendship Museum for the "Peacekeepers" detachment. Guides of the museum in national costumes introduced the children to the history of the holiday, told about the most famous Belarusian folk crafts. Then the children took part in the games of the Slavic peoples, translated Slavic proverbs, made up and guessed riddles. Songs and music of the Slavs became an expressive addition to the program.

The guys had to complete different tasks from 9 envelopes to get one letter. Children sang, recited poetry, told a fairy tale, recalled Belarusian and Grodno sights, folk holidays, looked for Belarusian exhibits, guessed a crossword puzzle and an encrypted message. And everything is in Belarusian.

The final task was to put together the word ADZINSTVA from letters. The quest was completed successfully!

ORAL JOURNAL: "BELARUS AND RUSSIA: INVINCIBLE TOGETHER!"

Belarus and Russia are two strong powers united by a common culture and history. On June 22, children from the school camp were able to think about the commonality of the Russian and Belarusian peoples at an event in the form of an oral magazine "Belarus and Russia: Together Invincible", which was held on the basis of the School Museum of Friendship of Peoples.

Five pages of the magazine revealed the deep connection between our peoples in national symbols, languages, the common root of the names of countries, Slavic traditions. The page "Standing on guard of the homeland of soldiers" became a reminder of the hardest trials during the Great Patriotic War, which showed the whole world the greatness of spirit, fortitude and courage of Russian and Belarusian soldiers. The most exciting page was the fifth - "I remember! I'm proud!" It was presented by the head of the museum. Natalya Mikhailovna told about her grandparents, participants in the war, and also showed the children the letters from the front of her grandfather, who died heroically in the battles for the Motherland. Trouble unites nations. Then they become invincible.

Ah, the road from Moscow to Minsk,

A thread of hope for unity.

You are alone today - without borders.

Save yourself, dear, save yourself.

THE WAY TO THE CITY TEMPLES

The Peoples' Friendship Museum continues its joint activities with the summer school camp. On June 16, the "Peacekeepers" detachment set off on an extramural journey "Grodno unites us: the way to the city's churches" Belarus is a multi-confessional country, and Grodno is a unique place where representatives of different nationalities and religions live. The acquaintance with the main architectural monuments of Grodno - the temples that reflect the religious values, history and culture of the region - helped to make sure of this.

First, the guys learned about the main religions and temples located in our city. Then we "visited" the St. Boris-Gleb Kolozhskaya Church, the Holy Intercession Cathedral, the Nativity of the Theotokos nunnery, the Catholic Cathedral of St. Francis Xavier (Farn Church), the Bernardine monastery, the Brigitte Monastery, the Lutheran Church of St. John, the Great Chora ... The guys were convinced that Grodno churches are not only special places for the spiritual life of people, but also amazing works of art.

The second stage of the meeting was a collective creative work. After the distance journey, the camp pupils made a board game, laying a route from our school to the main temples on the map of Grodno and making up questions and tasks on the topic. The guys took part in the KTD with great interest. In the future, an excursion to Grodno churches is also planned.

The event revealed important ideas of spiritual and moral education and showed another facet of national unity and goodness.

St. Patrick's Day is celebrated on March 17 - a national Irish holiday. The green holiday of the Irish conquers more and more countries every year. On this day, anyone can become Irish if they want. This is a common joke. According to folk tradition, it is customary to celebrate this holiday in green clothes. Green is the color of spring, Ireland and shamrock.

Primary school students learned a lot of informative facts about the holiday, and also took part in interesting competitions: they looked for a four-leaf clover (it is considered a sign of great luck), threw gold coins into the leprechaun's pot, answered quiz questions, and recalled green objects. It was fun! After all, the main motto of the holiday is "Fun and delight".

WALK TO ST.JOAN'S LUTHERAN'S CHURCH

Today the class of the circle was devoted to the history of the appearance of the Protestant church in our city of Grodno. Lutherans appeared in the city in 1779. They came from Germany at the invitation of the Grodno head Anthony Tizengauz to work at the royal manufactories.

In 1793, the Polish king Stanislav II donated the building of a former tavern to the Grodno Evangelical Lutheran community, which was adapted as a church.

At the beginning of the 19th century, the reconstruction of the three-storey building of the former tavern into a stone church in the neo-Gothic style began. A Lutheran cemetery was set up nearby. By 1843, the construction of the stone church was completed, and a small pastor's house was added to the church. The final appearance of the church was formed in 1873, when the bell tower was decorated with a clock.

At the end of 2013, the restoration of the building began, which ended in 2015. The original appearance of the church has been recreated, including a 12-meter spire and 10 crosses in the exterior of the temple.

At the end of the lesson, the children went for a walk and those who wished could take pictures with such an interesting and ancient landmark of our city.

At the address: Lenin Street No. 9-11, there is the building of the former Peasant Land Bank. It was built in 1913 by the architect B. Ostroumov and is an example of Art Nouveau architecture. During the First World War, a military hospital was located here, in the 20-30s - the headquarters of the military district, and from the post-war years to the present day, the building is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Defense.

House No. 18 was built in the early 30s of the last century in the style of constructivism. After the war, the building housed the regional committee for radio broadcasting and a radio center. From here, the regional radio was broadcast for many years. In 1982, the Grodno tour and concert department of the Belarusian State Philharmonic Society began to work here, which was later transformed into the Regional Philharmonic. Today the building houses a public association “Belarusian numismatic partnership”.

House number 23 was built in 1910-1912. After the Second World War, the building was handed over to signalmen. The regional communications department, the regional department "Soyuzpechat", the transport office of the Ministry of Communications of the BSSR worked here. After the transfer of communication institutions to Ozheshko Street, an agricultural school was opened in the house. Then the technical school No. 7 was transferred here, which in the early 70s vacated the premises for the vocational school No. 41.

One of the buildings of the technical school No. 7 was located opposite in the house No. 28, built at the beginning of the twentieth century. In the 1920s, a women's professional school worked here, where, in addition to general education disciplines, girls were taught cutting and sewing.

VISITING A JEWISH FAIRY TALE

Within the framework of the subject week of elementary school students in the school Museum of Friendship of Peoples, museum lessons "Visiting a Jewish Fairy Tale" were held for pupils of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades.

The Jewish fairy tale is a combination of a fairy tale plot and the Jewish system of religious values. She carries examples of high moral standards, worthy behavior in the most difficult situations.

Younger schoolchildren at the museum lesson were attentive listeners who could understand the deep meaning of Jewish fairy tales. At the end of the meeting, having completed the tasks, the guys first guessed, and then found a wonderful exhibit of the "Jews" exposition. It was the book "Jewish Folk Tales", which is valuable both for our museum and for any person who wants to understand important truths not only about the Jewish people, but also about himself.

"SELFIE IN MUSEUM" PROMOTION

January 20, 2021 is the day of the international action "Selfie in the Museum", which is traditionally held every third Wednesday of January. Many museums are not allowed to take photographs. However, on the day of museum selfies, an exception is made: visitors can take a selfie next to any museum exhibit, and then post it on their pages on social networks. A selfie in a museum is an opportunity to see something through the eyes of others, as well as a simple and emotional way to show the value of a place, collection or exhibit.

The day was founded by Mar Dixon, a Londoner who runs a website about museums, art and culture. Dixon said her goal was to create a one-day event that would raise awareness of the great collections held in museums. The first day of museum selfies was held in January 2014. Since its inception, many museums around the world have joined the action, and thousands of people have posted their museum selfies on social media.

Our school Museum of Friendship of Peoples also took part in this interesting action and invited those wishing to take a museum selfie. The students of the school took advantage of this unique opportunity with great pleasure!

"Christmas was coming"

Our ancestors have long been able to meet and celebrate holidays (Call of Spring, Tombs, Cupola, Trinity or Trinity), associated with the calendar or land cycles. We must not forget about Christmas, which began for Catholics on December 25, and for Orthodox believers on January 7 - from Christmas - Christmas.

Participants of the FEST group, which operates at the Grodno State Secondary School No. 8 and has been introducing its visitors to the folklore, ethnography and traditions of Belarusians for many years, also carefully prepared for this year's Christmas holidays. On the eve of the Christmas holiday, the group members studied its history with special interest, got acquainted with the traditions of the event, selected program material, and made attempts by the performers of the current Christmas characters. The work done was not in vain. On Orthodox Christmas, the group performed in front of teachers and junior students of the school with a theatrical performance "Christmas was coming." During the event, the audience met with Christmas heroes: a generous Christmas, a guide goat, a goat, a gypsy, a gypsy, a mare. The good mood of the audience was maintained by beautiful Belarusian carols performed by the singing group.

The program content of this event helped to broaden the horizons of children, enrich them with new musical impressions, positive emotions through the performance of Christmas songs and games, promoted the development of creative activity, instilling love for Belarusian folk art.

One of the traditions of the French New Year is connected with the fact that a pie must be present on the New Year's table, in which one bean is hidden. Whoever gets the bean gets the title of "bean king", and everyone has to carry out his comic orders all night long. The "King of Beans" was lucky enough to become Matvey Dadochkin, a student of grade 5 "B", who invited the children to fulfill his wishes.
The final stage of the meeting was a master class on making the most important attribute of the New Year - a tree. The students made funny Christmas trees out of paper with their own hands, which also helped to feel the atmosphere of the holiday and cheered everyone up.

WORLD WELCOME DAY

November 21 - World Hello Day. Its main goal is to draw the attention of the general public to the importance of personal communication for the preservation of peace.
This holiday of greetings was invented in 1973 by two American brothers Michael and Brian McComack at the height of the Cold War, in response to the conflict between Egypt and Israel. The day was needed as a protest against the growing international tension. “We need a simple but effective action,” the brothers decided and sent letters of warm greetings to all corners of the world. They did not impose on anyone their ideas of fighting for world peace and reducing international tension. They only asked the addressee to greet someone else, well, at least ten people! This idea has been supported in over 180 countries. Since then, the World Day of Greetings has been celebrated by citizens of all professions and ages, and by major political leaders, and industrial magnates, and world-famous personalities of film and television. And although each nation has its own, historically established customs of greeting each other, the interethnic etiquette is the same: when they meet, people wish each other well and health, prosperity and success in business.

An extra-curricular event dedicated to World Greetings Day was held at the School of Peoples' Friendship Museum for students of grade 6 "B" on November 19.
The guys learned how this holiday came about, how people in different countries greet each other, what traditions related to greetings exist among different nations. Students were also able to greet each other in different languages. The meeting contributed not only to broadening their horizons, but also fostering an attentive attitude towards the people around them in schoolchildren.
The final creative work was writing postcards with friendly greetings and good wishes.
